Russell Grant claims X Factor job offer - Yahoo Daily TV round-up


Former 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant Russell Grant has claimed he was offered a job on the panel of 'The X Factor'.

The astrologer, who was voted off the BBC show last night, added that he turned down the offer, deciding instead to stick with 'Strictly'.

“About four weeks ago I got a call from someone. I won't name names. But basically they said if you get voted out before the final, will you come and be a guest just for one of the shows?” revealed the 60-year-old star.

“It would have been my forte. Because of my background in musical theatre, the presentation of the song is my thing.

“I said, 'Thank you ever so much but I'm with 'Strictly' until Blackpool because we all go to the final.” [The Sun]

Meanwhile, viewers have accused the show of exploiting a 'sob story' to keep Misha B in the competition. Last week it emerged that her estranged mother wanted to get back in touch, which led Kelly Rowland to detail her own difficult upbringing. Elsewhere, Rihanna managed to slip a pair of offensive shoes into her performance on 'The X Factor' last night, with a pair of brothel creeper-style shoes with the words 'f*** off' written on them in Tipp-Ex. A spokesperson for the show said: “There were no close-up shots of Rihanna's shoes. We believe the performance was suitable.” [The Sun]

Finally, it's emerged that the infamous 'X Factor' voiceover man Peter Dickson threatened to quit the show after it was suggested that another voice artist was brought in for part of the 'movie theme' night. A source told Heat magazine that 'Peter's management weren't happy at the decision made to replace Peter in the opening sequence to voice the signature opening the public have grown to love, and threatened to remove him from the show for good!
