Apprentice 2014: Chiles Cartwright Wishes He'd 'Done Things Differently' After Becoming First To Be Fired

Bet he wishes he'd gone back for those T-Shirts now, eh?

No one ever wants to be the first to go. So it's no surprise that Apprentice 2014 candidate Chiles Cartwright has been left feeling 'gutted' after he was the first to be booted off the new series on Tuesday night.

His decision NOT to go back and pick up those T-shirts (which will surely haunt him for ever more) saw him on the other end of Lord Sugar's pointed finger as the show returned for its tenth series.

The 35-year-old told Yahoo: "It’s absolutely gutting. The whole intention of me going in was to secure a partnership with Lord Sugar and I believe that I had what it took to get to the final.

"Massively gutted but in reality you pick yourself up and it’s back to business as usual for me really."

Chiles is still adamant that he was robbed (obviously) during the first task, which saw the 20 hopefuls trying to flog everything from sausages to cleaning products.

He told us: "Felipe 100% brought the wrong people back into the boardroom as far as I’m concerned.

"There was a lot of pressure on Felipe to bring someone in who he thought could have been accountable. I think he didn’t really have much of a choice.

"But I really think Steven should have been in there as well as Robert. He spent the day with Robert so he clearly knew where he went wrong and I think he was right in bringing him back in."

The company director, who headed up the boys' sub-team, while Felipe Alviar-Baquero took on role as PM, lost out on sales by leaving their batch of T-shirt at the printers without time to pick them up.

Chiles added: "It’s great to look back. Would I have done things differently? Yes. Would I have avoided being in the firing line? Yes. Would I have sold T-shirts? Yes.

"But that’s in retrospect, at the time I made the right decisions and I stood by them and that’s what you’ve got to do in business. You can’t keep looking back.

"If I had another go at it, yes I’d do things differently."

Despite the rather questionable leadership skills of the girls' PM Sarah Dales, they managed to beat the boys by just over £50.

Every pound counts, guys!
