Tim Vine quits Not Going Out – Daily TV round-up

Comedian Tim Vine has quit the BBC sitcom 'Not Going Out', just as it has been given two more series.

Vine plays show creator Lee Mack's best friend Tim, and has been part of the cast since it started in 2006.

“I’m great friends with everyone on the cast and I’ve had a great time doing it but after five series I simply fancied a change,” he said.

The show has now been commissioned for a sixth and seventh series, taking it into 2014.

Popular funny-man Vine was key to the show, with his pithy one-liners, but a source inside the BBC told The Sun 'we’ll be introducing some exciting new characters in the next series. It’s now what might be termed a long-running sitcom'.

“It has had several changes of cast along the way and has grown audience rather than lost it,” the source added. [The Sun]
