Wedding day nerves: Carl worries that he's about to be unmasked as Sunita's killer (Credit: ITV)

Murderers on the verge of being uncovered on ‘Corrie’ and ‘Emmerdale’ and a familiar face is out of prison and back in ‘Enders’.

Coronation Street
It’s usual for the groom to be nervous ahead of his big day, so it’s no surprise that Karl is biting his nails as he prepares to tie the knot. The only thing is, he’s not worried about committing to Stella. He’s a trifle nervous that he’s about to be revealed as a murderer and arsonist.

First of all, he gets wound up and lashes out at kids who are “bullying” Craig, the boy who knows his secret. But instead of keeping him onside it scares him some more. Meanwhile the Cagney and Lacey of Weatherfield - Dev and Jason - are poring over pictures from the Full Monty performance at the Bistro which was going on at the time the fire started.

They realise that Karl wasn’t there at the crucial time – and they’re convinced that they’re after the right man. The next day, just as Stella (looking lovely, with a dress matching her hair) is preparing to say “I do”, Dev gets Craig to tell him what really happened on the night of the fire.

But what’s Dev’s next step? While Jason phones the police and gets Craig prepared to make a statement - he heads off to crash the wedding and stop Karl going on his honeymoon in Spain from which he may never return. But will he get there in time? And what will Karl do when he realises he’s been caught? Is he going to surrender tamely? We do hope not.

Also this week: There’s trouble in store for Sally as her fling with Tim gets underway in earnest. But while she sees it as the start of something beautiful, he’s erring towards a ‘one-night’ thing.

EastEnders
Well, who is that, coming out of jail? Why it’s Ronnie. And strangely she looks younger than she did when she went in. Clearly time away from the stresses of Walford and a prison diet are good for the soul.

But when the door slams shut behind her, she’s surprised that Roxy is not there to meet her – in fact the only person there is Kat. Ronnie is mystified as to why her sister isn’t there (what happened to the prison visits is glossed over) but Kat explains it all to her. Roxy has got engaged to Alfie, who insists that she can’t see her sister again because of that whole “baby-swapping” fiasco. He really should be blaming the script writers for that awful farce - but what can you say?

Kat takes pity on her and lets her stay – but that’s as good as it gets for Ronnie. Jack slams the door in her face when she calls on him. And Michael winds her up so much she decides to leave after just  one night. She ends up at the laundrette where Dot smuggles her in to see Roxy. But just as they’re having an emotional reunion Alfie walks in.

Alfie is livid and, after shouting at Ronnie, races back downstairs, quickly followed by Roxy and Ronnie. Everyone is shocked at the sight of Ronnie - and Alfie insists in front of everyone that Roxy must choose between him and Ronnie. This is all very much in character and sensible. But who will Roxy choose?

Also this week: Shirley realises that Carl has framed Max for Phil’s car crash. But when she confronts him, she realises he’ll go to any lengths to shut her up.

Emmerdale
If Karl’s crimes are discovered by what police dramas would call “good old-fashioned detective work” from Dev and Jason in ‘Corrie’, Cameron’s killing is uncovered by plain bad luck.

Brenda discovers the dictaphone tucked in Gennie’s belongings and turns it on to find out about Cameron and Debbie’s affair. But the grieving mum stops it before Cameron confesses to murdering Carl.

Later Brenda presents Debbie with the recording – and Debbie freaks out when she realises what Brenda knows. But that’s the least of her worries because she finally becomes the person to listen to the whole tape – and hears Cameron also killed Gennie.

Stunned, she runs over to Chas to tell her everything and the feuding family members finally make up. They take the recording to the police – but will it be enough evidence? And will Cameron surrender tamely? We do hope not.
