Soaps preview: Mon 4 – Fri 8 November

A familiar face returns to ‘Corrie’, Lauren’s on the edge in ‘Enders’ and Priya drops a bombshell on ‘Emmerdale’.

Coronation Street
He’s back! Again! Todd’s in town once more and his presence is felt immediately – even before he arrives.  Eileen is amazed when Todd’s ex Alex storms into Weatherfield and demands to know where she is hiding him.

Alex spins some crazy tale about Todd conning him out of cash then dumping him and running off – but Elaine can’t believe it. Not the apple of her eye misbehaving? It’s not possible.  There must be some mistake.

But when he shows up – not knowing Alex is in town and starts telling more lies than a politician at a story-telling contest - even Eileen begins to realise that he may have behaved badly. And when word gets back to a drunken Alex that Todd is at Eileen’s, he’s right round there and all hell breaks loose.

When the storm clears Eileen is left a few quid shorter and Todd suggests that he goes back to London. But after telling Sean a sanitised version of events and beginning to look for a job so he can pay his mum back, it’s not long before he’s back in her good books. But there’s trouble in store for everyone else...

Also this week: Roy has everything right for Hayley’s return from hospital. But he breaks down and tells Anna about her suicide plans. And then there’s terrible news about her friend Jane. Poor Roy. Poor Hayley. Poor all of us.

EastEnders
It’s fair to say that Lauren has been through a lot recently (actually, is there anyone on ‘Enders’ you can’t say that about?). She’s lost Joey, her mum’s moved away and her dad is in prison suspected of attempted murder. Oh, and she’s been a bit of an alcoholic.

With Max locked up, she’s relying on Abi for support, which is a bit like using a jellyfish as a walking stick. They’re trying to pay bills and keep bailiffs away but the family home is under threat.

Paying a visit to Max doesn’t really help as he warns her that he could be inside for a very long time – so they better be ready to look after themselves. She retires depressed to her favourite place – the swing on the playground, where she’s discovered  by Peter Beale.

He realises that the only thing that can get her off the hook is his dad growing a set, standing up to Carl and not lying in court. But will Ian discover his backbone? Not likely.

And things get worse when Lauren has a run in with her stepmum Kirsty, herself stressed about the arrival of a loan shark. Surely she’s going to end up dancing with the demon drink again? Well not quite. There is one other person she can turn to – that hunky Jake fellow (reminds us of a man who used to run a nightclub in Chester).  So she arranges another date – but is he really all he seems?

Also this week: A tragedy sees Alfie turning to Kat. She tells him not to hurt Roxy – but he ends up getting drawn closer and closer to her.

Emmerdale
Priya has unleashed her full fury on Alicia and David as revenge for his betrayal.  But she’s not nearly finished yet. She drops the ultimate bombshell – in the form of a positive pregnancy test. It, oh so accidentally, falls out of her handbag in front of him.

Surely it can’t be true though, can it? It would be absurd timing and really a coincidence too far. And indeed Priya lies to David and tells him that she’s not preggers.

But the truth comes out when Noah overhears Jai and Charity gossiping about it and tells Jacob.  Jacob is already upset and has told Alicia he never wants to talk to her again – he wants a divorce.  With poor old Alicia having trouble conceiving, David is shaken up when he confronts Priya and she tells him that she lied: she is pregnant – but not for long - she’s having an abortion.

What will David do? Will he want her to keep the baby so he can have yet another second family?

Also this week: Sam discovers the truth about Rachel and Jai.
