Fight at the funeral on ‘Corrie’, Ronnie’s got a gun on ‘Enders’ and Adam’s out for justice on ‘Emmerdale’

Coronation Street
We’ve commented many times in this column about the fact that a wedding in Soap Land is as likely to go smoothly as a Children’s party hosted by Marilyn Manson. Well, actually given the recent farrago at Lucy’s funeral on Enders, it may just be any church service that’s cursed.

And so today, as Peter starts glugging back vodka before getting dressed up for Tina’s funeral, it’s pretty obvious things aren’t going to end well. He skulks into the church despite nobody wanting him there and it’s pretty obvious that someone is going to spot him.

Indeed as David is giving the eulogy, he spies him and like a vengeful Southern preacher starts shouting at him – telling everyone that were it not for Peter, Tina would be alive today. With Simon looking on ashamed (nice suit), he staggers out of the church and stands by the grave.

As Carla arrives, he lurches over to her but Rob steps in and a fight breaks out. Of course it does. Peter snarls that Tina has ruined his life, so now she’s dead they’re even. And what good timing, ‘cause just as he opens his mouth, he’s arrested.

But it’s not just him. Rob is also stunned to be taken in for questioning. And though Peter might be drunk and loose-lipped, he’s not the one who actually killed Tina. So do the cops know Rob is their man?

Also this week: Gary needs some fun after the whole business with Phelan and Anna. But on a night out he meets a brunette and well, not to put a finer point on it – he cheats on Izzy! And to make matters worse, it turns out that his conquest is moving in quite close to home…

EastEnders
Phil Mitchell’s life is a bit of a mess – not for the first time. And not for the first time, he’s got women problems. Sharon returns to the Square after the nasty attack in The Albert so he has to look after her. But meanwhile, Shirley has got drunk and fallen asleep in the gardens.

Roxy takes her back to Ronnie’s where Shirley explains that her state is down to Phil and Sharon’s engagement. It’s fair to say she’s not taken it well.

It certainly doesn’t bode well for Phil. And indeed things start to go badly wrong when Shirley lets slip that he organised the attack on The Albert.  Ronnie is caught up in the argument and starts to question her life choices.

Phil heads over for a heart-to-heart with Ronnie to try and sort her out but even he’s amazed with how messed up she is, when she shows him a gun she’s got and asks him to get rid of it.  Even though he agrees, when he’s gone – she makes a serious decision about her life.

Of course, it’s not that easy for Phil – if you don’t think Sharon’s going to find that gun, you’ve not watched enough soaps.

Still, angry with the fact she’s let his secret slip, Phil goes after Shirley and warns her to stay away from him and Sharon, he also threatens to expose her secret unless she pays him back his £10,000. Where’s she going to get that cash? Is there anyone around who could help her?

Also this week: Alfie and Terry drag up to try and sell more clothes on the market. Yup. That’s a good idea.

Emmerdale
To celebrate Finn’s birthday, he and Victoria dig out some old VHS tapes of his childhood. Tapes that they’ve had and never mentioned before. But when the tapes keep rolling, they reveal an argument between James and his ex-wife Emma about him sleeping with Moira.

Unfortunately Adam happens to be watching – and is stunned and amazed at the news his mum had a fling. This is probably the least realistic scene in any soap ever. At least when Max and Stacey’s affair was revealed on a video on ‘Enders’ it was a) filmed on purpose and b) just a couple of days later.

Anyway, it all becomes clear to Adam, James who he hates is his real dad. And that’s not good news. He hunts down a gun from The Dingles and begins to stalk James into the forest where it looks like some serious fratricide might take place.

A shot rings out. Is it the end for James?

Also this week: Megan goes head to head with Leyla for an Apprentice style task to see who can make the most money from the sweet factory.
