We always knew that Donna wasn’t going to go quietly – and that her end would be upsetting – but we didn’t think it’d be as bad as this.

Emmerdale

It’s April’s fifth birthday but Donna tells Marlon she’d like to keep things low-key because it’ll be their last together. Also instead of ordering in Happy Meals, she’s got to keep on top of her final job with Ross.

He’s arranged to knock over a local nightclub and then run away with April and Donna. So she slips a laxative into PC Swirling’s drink to keep him out of the action. But then at the club, lookout Adam doesn’t show (see Alsos) which throws a spanner in the works – and then the owner Stephen (a bit Max Branning, by the way) walks in and doesn’t buy that Ross and her are police. So he punches Ross and corners Donna. They’ve no choice but to leave with their tails between their legs.

Back in the village, Ross is furious with the way things have gone – but not as furious as he is when he discovers that Donna’s lied to him about running away with him. He storms off to get revenge – but well, will he get there in time? Or will something else get her first?

Also this week: Aaron makes a surprise return to the village and stops Adam from doing something stupid. And Andy and Katie are on the edge of a split when he can’t control his temper.

Nick can’t stop clashing with Leanne and it’s doing his head in. Permanently on the edge of a tantrum, he rows with Steph in Just Nick’s and the waitress quits on the spot.

He admits to Audrey that the divorce is getting to him but getting it of his chest doesn’t help much. He catches Kal and Leanne having a laugh in the café together with David and Ayla and it sends him into another tailspin.

However, this time, instead of yelling, he winces and clutches his head. Is he having a seizure? No. But Roy is worried enough to call an ambulance – but Nick says that it happens all the time and it’s no biggie.
He comes clean to David afterwards and admits he was faking it. But it’s already done the trick – Kal and Leanne feel terrible and so mission accomplished.

Nick surely can’t be hoping to win Leanne back can he? Well, if he is then he’ll be delighted to  hear that she feels so bad she offers to stop divorce proceedings until he feels better.

Also this week: Michael runs over Gail’s foot on the way to a romantic picnic. Oh, Michael.

Ian prepares to make a televised public appeal about Lucy’s disappearance – but he’s driven to the brink of collapse as he’s still hiding what he was up to on the night she died.

He practices and practices his appeal but he’s upset when the police say that instead of his whole family he can only have Peter on stage with him. Even Sharon can’t calm his nerves as he prepares to take to the stage.

Afterwards Denise, Sharon and Peter ask her why she didn’t step in – but Phil realises it’s because they suspect he’s got something to hide. He challenges Ian and when Ian confesses that Rainie is blackmailing him, Phil decides to take action and pay the woman a visit.
