Simon Cowell to axe The X Factor? - Daily TV round-up


Simon Cowell has said that he might axe 'The X Factor' after the next series.

He also revealed that he is already devising a replacement should the next series not improve on its falling ratings.

“I’d rather fall off the cliff on numbers than deteriorate slowly,” he said.

“Now maybe that might mean with 'The X Factor' we’d say in a year’s time ‘Right, that’s the end of it’. We have something in development which could replace 'The X Factor'.

“Most things in music, fashion or TV tend to be across a 10-year period. The great test of success is if you can transcend a decade.”

Ratings for last year's series fell by around five million from the 2010 show, with 'Strictly Come Dancing' regularly beating it for viewers.

Elsewhere, Gary Barlow has reportedly signed on for another series of the show, having made his debut as the head of the judging panel last year. [Daily Mail]
