This is a new supernatural sitcom from the writers of ‘Secret Diary Of A Call Girl’ about four young women living in Camden, North London as they negotiate their way through love lives, careers and friendships. What’s special about them? They are witches. With a nod to American modern-gals-as-witches Shannen Doherty/Alyssa Milano favourite ‘Charmed’, Stella (Lacey Turner), Grace (Phoebe Fox), Jude (Nina Toussaint-White) and Hannah (Hannah Tointon) use their magic powers with varying degrees of success. In the first episode, Stella sends out their own personal ‘Calling All Witches’ distress signal (a text, obviously) and the gang are reunited – aided, sort of, by Caroline Quentin as Grace’s mum – as they try to solve Stella’s problems with her boss. Silly stuff, by its nature, but fun and nicely played by the watchable four leads. If this sounds like your sort of thing, bear in mind that the fourth series of The Vampire Diaries (Mon, 9pm, ITV2) is on right before.
