Interview: Britain’s Got Talent singer Michael Collings

We caught up exclusively with one of 2011’s most popular contestants on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, Michael Collings, following the recent release of his first single ‘Fast Car’.

We started by asking the musician from Plymouth about what he’s been up to since and his big plans for 2012.

“I’ve been paying for my studio time,” he said, “So I’ve been touring so that I can afford that. I’m aiming for a March release [of my debut album].”

“My goal for next year is to get a record label.”

He’s done well out of the show so what advice does he give to people thinking about entering next year’s competition?

“Probably just, make sure you practise a lot, don’t be nervous and don’t say anything embarrassing because they’ve got it all on camera! Just go with a positive attitude and give it your all really.”

Michael also spoke about the rumoured judges for ’Britain’s Got Talent’ 2012. These have included Simon Cowell, Paul O’Grady and former EastEnders Barbara Windsor and Samantha Womack.

“It’d be a good line-up, nothing wrong with any of them. They’re all famous and they’re all good at what they do. Obviously you need the music side as well but some of them are not in to music acts, they’re variety acts so you need that side of that.”

“Whoever they get I’m sure they will gel together nicely.”

Finally we had to ask what happened to the orange jumper Michael wore to his audition all that time ago.

“I still have it but I don’t wear it any more. I have to dress a bit smarter for gigs!”
