How to live like an Apprentice

So you haven’t made the final 16 this year? Don’t worry – there are still ways for you to make like one of Lord Sugar’s Apprentices. Here's how to live like a wannabe business tycoon...

Use catchphrases
We're not suggesting you become the next Stuart ‘The Brand’ Baggs, but you should definitely come up with a few memorable one-liners to make an impression – even if it’s not the one you're hoping for."Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon", said one of this year's candidates. "My first word wasn't Mummy. It was money", another hopeful told us in the previous series... Can you top that?

Get the attitude
Obviously you need to get the right look (smart clothes, check) and be ready to sleep very little (coffee supplies, check). Then it’s time to adopt a business-like attitude and most importantly of all, stay modest at all times… just kidding. Forget about modesty, otherwise your competitors will eat you alive. Instead, convince yourself you're better than anyone else and believe that yes, you can make a huge return on any of Lord Sugar's investments. Because everything you touch "turns to sold", obviously.

Stay at the Apprentice house
This year's candidates are staying in a brand new plush house, and we can tell you exactly where it is! (See pic below) So let's get crazy - why not gather a few would-be Apprentices, rent out the house, put the 'Apprentice' soundtrack on and set up a business meeting in the dining room or lounge? Don't forget to find a good team name before setting off on your first task (for which you may be called at an unfriendly hour in the morning…).

Know how to impress the bosses
If you're really hoping to get hired rather than fired, make sure you know what is expected from business hopefuls. Do your research on Lord Sugar and read his expert advice. Also, don't forget that you need to impress Lord Sugar’s advisers Nick Hewer and Karren Brady. Remember: if you spot Nick strangely twisting his face, chances are someone near him has done something wrong…

Sell your own products
Do business the 'Apprentice' way: go out and buy lots of oranges, for instance, at the cheapest possible price, and try to sell freshly-squeezed juice to City workers for the most money. Do whatever it takes to make the most profit: work your 'charms' like current Apprentice Vincent Disneur, or try to convince others your product is great even when you're not too sure about it yourself – like the girls who took part in the app task earlier in the series.

Head to the Acton Café
However, unless you really are Apprentice material, chances are you won't sell so much of that lovely fruit juice, let alone make a profit. So here are your options now: moan in a corner, wondering what to do with your unsold stock, or pay a visit to the famous Acton Café - where the losing team usually sits, pondering who's to blame for the failure of the task...
