Gladiators: Where Are They Now?

What happened to the stars of the cult 90s TV show after the final whistle blew?

Before ‘The X-Factor’. Before ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. Before Ant & Dec had barely made it out of 'Byker Grove', one show reigned supreme on Saturday night TV... ‘Gladiators’.

From 1992 to 1999, millions tuned in every week to watch a group of gym-going contestants take on the Gladiators, the toughest team on TV, in a series of bizarre physical challenges. It was pure, unashamed, mass entertainment at its best.

We knew all their names (we even knew the theme tunes), and every true 90s child wanted to be a Gladiator. But what actually happened to the heroic stars of the show after the final whistle blew?

Some former Glads entered showbiz. Trojan landed the part of TV’s ‘Action Man’, while Rhino went on to small supporting parts in ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 4’ and ‘Batman Begins’.

Many continued their love of health and fitness, with Jet, Panther, Rebel, Scorpio, Vogue, Zodiac, Hawk, Warrior and Hunter all running gyms, sports classes, or working as personal trainers.

Some even became real-life heroes – Saracen went back to being a firefighter – while others got into trouble with the law (two of the TV icons served time in jail).

And then there’s Wolf, the menacing villain of the show who now runs an adventure playground for children. He wasn’t all that bad then…
