Fans are eagerly anticipating his appearance as the The Vic's brand new landlord.

And now Danny Dyer has revealed that the new Carter family will arrive on Albert Square with a bang this Christmas – with a New Year's Eve episode which is set to be 'the best yet.'

The cockney actor has also announced that the brand new Carter clan will have some very exciting editions in the New Year, in the form of veteran actor Timothy West and well-known actress Annette Badland.

Danny told us: 'We've been told it's the best New Year's Eve episode ever - it's up there.

''It was great fun to film. Straight in the deep end- all the characters in here [The Queen Vic]. It's just great – you're going to love it.''

Danny, who will play landlord Mick Carter, went on to reveal that acclaimed actor West has been lined up to play his father - but that he hasn't met him yet.

He said: ''I haven't met him – it's Timothy West. Great actor. I don't want to give too much away. He's been knocking about but I haven't seen him yet.''

Danny went on to admit that he's trying to bring a touch of Frank Butcher to his role and has even started sounding like him.

He added: ''I've got a bit of Butcher about me – I want to try and bring Frank back.

''He had a real presence – when he was behind the bar, you believed him and he had that warmth. I'm sounding more and more like Mike Reid by the day.''

Although he's settling in well to the role, the 36-year-old admitted that he was nervous on his first day and even sat alone at lunch time.

He told us: ''I had to sit on my own for lunch on my first day. I queued up for the caterers – but I didn't know anyone. I came in on my own and had to sit on my own.  A few people came up to me out of pity but that was it. Nice bit of chilli though.''
