Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati wins rear of the year

'Coronation Street' actress Shobna Gulati has officially got the nation's best bottom after winning Rear Of The Year.

The actress, who plays 'Corrie's Sunita Alahan, picked up the female Rear Of The Year title, while 'Torchwood' and 'Doctor Who' star John Barrowman won the men's prize.

Speaking about her Rear Of The Year victory, Gulati said: "I am really honoured and flattered to be a winner of this year's competition and for my bum to be etched into the history of the award's alumni - a list which includes so many other distinguished bottoms.

"I'd also like to say thanks - in the words of Will.i.am, 'I got it from my mama'."

Barrowman added: "With tush tightly toned, cheeks firmly clenched and a big smile on my face, I'm thrilled to be awarded the accolade."

Shobna Gulati's Rear Of The Year victory follows a long tradition of soap stars picking up the gong for best bum.

Barbara Windsor, known to millions as 'EastEnders' Peggy Mitchell, won the first-ever prize back in 1976 and fellow cast members Anita Dobson (Angie Watts) and er, John Altman (Nasty Nick) have also triumphed.

Gulati's fellow 'Corrie' star Jane Danson won back in 2000, while Sarah Lanchashire, who played Raquel Watts, picked up the award in 1993.

Other past winners include the likes of Gary Barlow, Graham Norton, Frank Skinner and our personal favourite, Su Pollard.
