Coronation Street musical tour postponed – Daily TV round-up

The 'Coronation Street' musical has been pulled after just two performances.

'Street of Dreams' was set to tour the country after opening in Manchester last week, but the dates will now be postponed.

The move comes after issues with the script, disappointing reviews and illness among the cast, which includes Kym Marsh as Elsie Tanner, Paul O'Grady and former ‘Coronation Street’ star Julie Goodyear.

Co-producer John Ward reportedly told cast members in an email that '[we] are far from happy with the show artistically and we are not prepared to take it out again in its present form’.

A statement from ITV read: “Reckless Entertainment, the producer behind 'Street of Dreams', is reviewing the production and script following the Manchester premiere and, as a result, has taken the decision to postpone the remaining tour dates.”

Fans of the TV show have been disappointed with the production, which only features Corrie star William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, via a video link, while Julie Goodyear is on stage for just a few minutes.
