Channel 5 to broadcast World’s Ugliest Dog Contest – Daily TV round-up

Channel 5 is to show the 2012 World's Ugliest Dog Contest.

As a part of a documentary called 'Mutt Ugly', it will follow British entrant Mugly as he heads to the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, for the event which is now in its 24th year.

He will be going up against a host of the world's ugliest dogs, including Rascal, who has appeared in four horror films and Princess Abbey who, according to show producers, has 'a hunched walk, a missing eye and mismatched ears'.

 “We are both excited and honoured to be accompanying Mugly and his companion Bev on what is set to be a monumental journey,” said Andrew Eastel of Dead or Alive Films.

“Whilst most British sports fans will be focused on Poland and London this summer, I hope that they also get behind a very brave member of Team GB who will be taking on the world's best in their own backyard.”

William Shatner has said he's sorry for saying that the Devon town of Ilfracombe was 'laced with prostitution' while hosting a recent episode of 'Have I Got News For You'. Eamonn Holmes has sparked a row after he rubbished stats from Ofsted about bullying on Sky News show 'Sunrise'. He hit back at co-host Charlotte Hawkins who defended the stats which said that one in two children are bullied, saying: “Don't bully me. See, that's why the world is in the state that it is, people like you just being wimpy about everything. One in two children are bullied at school.
