Billie Piper won't be in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary – Daily TV round-up

Actress denies the rumours she'll be playing Rose Tyler in the anniversary show

Billie Piper has squashed rumours that she'll be appearing in the 50th anniversary episode of 'Doctor Who'.

Piper played Rose Tyler on the show in 2005, alongside Christopher Eccleston's incarnation of the Doctor, but says that she has not been contacted to take part.

Rumours began after current Doctor Who Matt Smith said that he wanted to work with Piper, as the pair are pals in real life.

“No. I've not been asked,” she said. “I think Matt Smith said something in passing or in jest like, 'That would be nice', and it became something, but no.”

It's not yet known who will be appearing in either main roles or cameos in the 50th anniversary special.

John Barrowman has said that he has also not been contacted about a return appearance as Captain Jack Harkness in the show.

He added that a snub from producers would be 'disappointing'.

Barrowman has frequently appeared in the show as Captain Jack, as well as starring in the spin-off series 'Torchwood'.

“I haven't been asked. I would love to [come back to 'Doctor Who'] if they ask me,” he told the Los Angeles Times. [Digital Spy]

A psychologist who worked on all the Channel 4 series of 'Big Brother' has revealed that new contestant Paula Hamilton had previously failed a psychological test for the show. As she entered the house last night, Jo Hemmings tweeted: “Paula Hamilton - because sending an alcoholic who failed her C4 psych tests three years ago is SUCH a good idea. At the risk of sounding like a killjoy, it's a seriously irresponsible decision.” [Digital Spy]

Meanwhile, fans are already calling the show a fix, after all the contestants who have now been sent to the house's squalid basement section arrived appearing to be wearing warmer clothes than all the other contestants. “This is such a fix, all the celebs that are going to the basement are wearing coats #cbb,” tweeted on fan.
