Bargain Hunt's David Barby dies – Daily TV round up

'Bargain Hunt's David Barby has died after suffering a stroke.

The TV personality, antiques expert and former auctioneer, who also appeared on shows including 'Antiques Road Trip' and ‘Flog It!’, reportedly died in hospital a few days after becoming ill.

Fellow 'Bargain Hunt' star David Harper confirmed the news on his Facebook page.

“I've had several messages today regarding my wonderful old friend David Barby and I'm very sad to confirm that he passed away last night after suffering a stroke 10 days ago - We'll miss him terribly,” he said.

Myleene Klass, who had appeared on the show with him recently, tweeted of her sadness at the news: “Just heard the sad news about David 'Barbarella' Barby. RIP great man,” she said.

Meanwhile, an official statement on the 'Flog It!' website, said: "David was the expert on the very first episode of 'Flog It!' in January 2002, and has been a stalwart of the show ever since. His sense of fun, gentle personality and great knowledge of and passion for antiques, endeared him to the hundreds of people he worked with and millions of viewers at home.

"David was an ambassador for antiques TV and loved every minute spent making the many, many episodes of 'Bargain Hunt', 'Flog It!', 'Antiques Road Trip' and more... We all remember David with great fondness, and send our condolences to his family and many friends in the antique trade and beyond." [Daily Mail/BBC]
