Alfie Moon is being tipped as the bookies’ favourite to murder Derek Branning over Christmas.
William Hill is offering odds of 5/1 on the mild-mannered pub landlord, played by Shane Richie, as the latest in a long line of Albert Square murderers.
It's thought that he may have a motive, if it's revealed that Branning, played by Jamie Foreman, is Alfie's wife Kat's secret lover.
Max Branning was previously in the favourite position, but now his odds have dropped to 6/1, while Jack Branning is on 7/1, Billy Mitchell at 9/1, Joey Branning at 10/1 and Kat Moon also at 10/1.
“Derek is quickly becoming one of the soap's most unpopular characters and just about everyone will have a reason for killing him off by the time Santa arrives in Albert Square,” said a William Hill spokesperson.
The death of east end bad boy Branning – the son of real east end enforcer Freddie Foreman - was confirmed last week, after pictures emerged of cast members filming funeral scenes. [Digital Spy]
