Blind Date is on its way back and Davina McCall is hot favourite to fill Cilla Black's stilletos.

The ITV dating show was the ultimate Saturday night 'getting ready to go out' viewing experience back in its heyday in the 80s and 90s and the revived show is set to get a makeover from none other than X Factor's Simon Cowell.

Bookmakers believe Davina is the top choice to present the show, ahead of joint second favourites Dermot O'Leary and Ant and Dec (please no - they are on TV enough as it is!)

So is Davina the right person for the job? Well, when it comes to TV dating shows she certainly has the experience - though the shows themselves have been a bit of a mixed bag.

Davina first got her terrestrial TV break on ITV's late-night God's Gift in the mid-90s, which we have to admit was a bit of a guilty pleasure for us. Several years later she popped up on Channel 4's Streetmate, which had a cult following and no doubt led to her landing the Big Brother gig. Then there's ITV's Love On A Saturday Night, which replaced Blind Date in 2004 and ran for one and a bit series. We think the less that's said about that the better.

Who would be our top choice to present Blind Date? Surely it's got to be Alan Carr? ITV is said to be keen to sign up the Sunday Night Project presenter and Blind Date would be the perfect prime-time vehicle for his talents. No?

    The air brush artist really earnt his fee for this photo. As for choosing the presenter, well it was a crap show, so Davina is a very suitable hostess

    THINK BLINDDATE WAS A LOAD OF RUBBISH,THINK THEY SHOULD KEEP IT WELL AND TRULY BURIED,IF PEOPLE WANT DATES THEY SHOULD GO ABOUT IT THE NORMAL WAY,JUST A EXCUSE SO THEY CAN GET ON TELLY.
