Duncan Bannatyne, Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Theo Paphitis and Hilary Devey are back for a tenth series of the show where they invest their own money in the products and visions of budding entrepreneurs. Or look down their noses as they laughingly crush people’s dreams, whatever feels right on the day. By the end of the first episode Hilary has already told somebody they are “talking rubbish”, viewers have cringed as two women sing a song about Brussels sprouts, Peter and Theo have had a row, Peter has told somebody that their “valuation is ridiculous, ludicrous and insane” and a woman has gravely informed the panel that “people are really going mad for chickens”. Is it any wonder that our economy’s in a state? On the upside, an ex-boxer has a decent gym-related idea, three mobile phone accessory bright sparks from North London have worked on their pitch until they all know it word-for-word, and Hilary has made someone an offer… Also, Be Your Own Boss (Wed, 9pm, BBC3) sees Innocent smoothie founder Richard Reed do a one-man DD.
