But there’s more: by flying a Boeing 727 passenger jet into the ground in the Mexico desert, they hope to find out the effects on the plane itself, and more importantly on the occupants of the 170 seats inside. In this case, they’re contestants from 'Big Brother' and the cast of 'TOWIE'. No wait. They are crash test dummies, thank goodness. Plane will be flown nearly to the ground, the pilots parachute out and then a remote control takes it home. Cool. There’s lots of interesting information about the science, and also how to apply it: is it safer to sit at the front or back of a plane? Does that “brace, brace” thing make any difference? But really, the fun of this show is the simple thrill of watching a dirty great big airplane crash into the ground.
