Talking of older people and family decisions, Parents (Fri, 8.30pm, Sky 1) is a new domestic-themed sitcom starring ‘Smack The Pony’s’ Sally Phillips and ‘Holby City’s’ Darren Strange as a couple whose financial worries mean they have to move in with her parents, Susie Blake and Tom Conti. Give it a whirl if you like ‘Modern Family’. Mad Mad World (Sat, 10.20pm, ITV1) is a new panel show hosted by Paddy McGuinness that pokes fun at TV clips from around the world: Rufus Hound and Rhys Darby – Murray in ‘Flight Of The Conchords’ are team captains; Louis Walsh is a guest in this first show. Alan Partridge On Open Books With Martin Bryce (Mon, 9pm, Sky Atlantic) is a curious little thing, featuring Alan (Steve Coogan) discussing and reading from his autobiography on a spoof local Norwich books/culture programme. Lots of little gems for the Partridge fan but probably a bit too muted and odd for others. When he’s not abusing Michael Atherton, former England cricket hero Andrew Flintoff has been busy, pedalling a very, very long way for charidee with rugby star Lawrence Dallaglio in Flintoff and Dallaglio’s Big Ride (Thu, 9pm, Discovery) and joining Rio Ferdinand and Martine McCutcheon as panellists in new sporting challenge show Let’s Get Gold (Thu, 9pm, ITV1). And there’s some splendid magic from street illusionist Dynamo: Magician Impossible (Thu, 9pm, Watch).
