This is an excellent antidote to all those namby-pamby diet shows about only drinking a cup of salt water for breakfast and then having a small piece of steamed watercress for dinner, or those ones where you only eat blue foods beginning with F. The Hairy Dieters in question, in case you hadn’t guessed, are Dave Myers and Si King of Hairy Bikers fame. They were previously, to be fair, two massive fat greedy blokes. But then they were told by their doctors that enough was enough. They have each lost two and a half stone, or eight inches-plus around the waist. In this fun and rather inspiring four-parter, they reveal how they did it without resorting to faddy diets or savage self-denial. They argue that you can still eat the foods you like while losing weight, which sounds like a winning argument. Plenty of good cooking tips, some laughs, and a surprisingly poignant section where Si revisits his primary school and puts together how his compulsion to overeat might have started. Oh, and get this: they’ve even swapped the motorbikes for pedal power!
