more The Secret Of Crickley Hall (Sun, 9pm, BBC1)This three-part ghost story, adapted from a James Herbert novel, is not for the faint-hearted. Suranne Jones is excellent as Eve, a loving mum who suffers the unthinkable when she nods off in the playground and wakes to find her son, Cam, abducted. A year later, she and husband Gabe, still crippled by the loss and her guilt, take their other two children to a remote house to get away from it all. Oh dear. It turns out that Crickley Hall was an orphanage in World War II, run by a sinister brother and sister, and that some of the residents may not have left, so to speak… Tom Ellis is good as the husband, there’s a creepy turn from Douglas Henshall and some strong work from the child actors. Plenty of shocks and scares, and some superlative set design and filming help the dual storylines – one in 1943, one in 2012 – combine together for a chilling, powerful drama.
