Deirdre has been at the heart of some of the soap’s greatest moments: the love triangle with Mike Baldwin and Ken Barlow, being a single mum and getting sent to prison for fraud, which led to a nationwide ‘Free The Weatherfield One’ campaign. In this excellent hour-long tribute, she chats with beloved colleagues William Roache and Johnny Briggs about the good times, but also the bad, including being told she was to be axed from the show after six years, being diagnosed with cancer and battling depression. Anne’s husband David Beckett, who played her Street boyfriend Dave Barton, and her on-screen daughter Kate Ford are among the others with plenty of nice things to say about a bona fide soap legend.
