Queen Elizabeth II, the most famous woman in the world, must have been the subject of thousands of hours of TV footage – but any opportunity to see inside Her Majesty’s private living room is surely too good to miss for royalists and republicans alike. This two-hour documentary, filmed during the Jubilee last year, has incredible access to Her Maj, catching her in private, rather sweet, little moments like adjusting the position of a distinctly un-regal two-bar fire and preparing for her weekly meeting with David Cameron, which just goes to show that it’s not all gin and diamonds being the head of state. A particularly excellent bit catches sight of a cushion in her sitting room embroidered with the legend ‘It’s Good To Be Queen’. An eclectic cast of admirers, including Robbie Williams, David Walliams and lesser showbiz figures like HRH The Countess of Wessex share their Queen stories, while the doc also delivers the inside scoop on her Olympian ‘Bond Girl moment’.
