Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones are new Daybreak presenters

Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones have been announced as the new presenters of 'Daybreak'.

The pair will replace Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway as the new full-time presenters of the ITV morning show.

Lorraine Kelly is already a familiar face to 'Daybreak' viewers as she presents the popular 'Lorraine' immediately after the programme each morning.

Choirboy-turned-presenter Aled Jones first found fame with his recording of 'Walking In The Air' before going on to host various TV shows including 'Songs Of Praise' and 'Cash In The Attic'.

Speaking about becoming the new 'Daybreak' presenter, he said: “I am so thrilled to be joining ITV for their breakfast show.  I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing the sofa every morning with such a consummate professional as Lorraine Kelly.

"We've known each other for a very long time and have always had a lot of fun together. We hope that the viewers enjoy being part of our breakfast family."

Lorraine added: “I'm really looking forward to this challenge and to working with Aled who is a warm, funny and thoroughly decent bloke and is already a good friend.”

ITV launched 'Daybreak' as a replacement to 'GMTV' amid much fanfare in September 2010, with former 'One Show' presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley as hosts.

However, the pair were axed last year after poor ratings and recent reports suggested that ITV were set to scrap the ailing breakfast show completely.

Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones will take over as the new 'Daybreak' presenters later this year.
