Synopsis

In 1908, the French banker Albert Kahn gave a team of photographers the world's first portable colour cameras. They created an 'archive of the planet': a collection of over 72,000 pictures taken in more than 50 countries. The second programme in this series shares pictures taken of war-ravaged French civilians during the First World War.
