CORONATION STREET

Watch it on ITV1, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Coronation Street stalwart Vera Duckworth left the soap in January after 33 years on the cobbles.

Vera's departure came following actress Liz Dawn's decision to quit the soap due to ill health.

The actress, who has been battling the lung disease emphysema for five year said: "I always thought I would play Vera until my dying day - but now I just want to spend the rest of my days enjoying my life with my family.

"It's been the most difficult decision I have ever had to make, but I know Vera would do the same."

More than 12 million viewers tuned in to watch Vera's final moments, giving Coronation Street one of its biggest audience of the past few years.

To mark the departure of a true soap legend we look back at some classic Vera moments...
