'Downton Abbey' is to get its first black character, according to reports.
A black actor is being sought to play musician Jack Ross as part of a storyline about race in the 1920s.
Casting information was sent out to agents describing Ross as 'Male, 25-30. A musician (singer) at an exclusive club in the 20s'.
“He’s black and very handsome,” it goes on to say. “A real man (not a boy) with charm and charisma. Overall he should be a very attractive man with a certain wow factor.”
The actor who wins the role should also 'ideally be able to sing brilliantly'.
