Coronation Street won't show Betty's funeral – Daily TV round-up

The funeral of Betty Williams won't be shown on Coronation Street, according to reports.

Instead, the soap will focus her send-off around her wake in the Rover’s Return, where the cast will assemble to toast her life.

Betty Driver, who played Betty in the soap for 42 years, passed away in October last year aged 91.

There will also be a surprise revealed, according to the show's producer Phil Collinson.

“We will be paying tribute to Betty, but behind the scenes will be the revelation of a secret she has kept hidden,” he said. “I cannot tell you what it is, but it's a secret that Betty has taken to the grave with her and I can promise you that fans will be surprised.

“There is no love child or anything like that. The secret has something to do with the show's history but I am saying no more.”
