Coronation Street musical to premiere in Manchester in March 2012

Details have been released of a spectacular 'Coronation Street' musical that will debut in Manchester next March.

'Street Of Dreams' is a big budget live arena show featuring past and present stars of the show alongside 'Coronation Street' super-fan Paul O'Grady.

Chatshow presenter O'Grady will feature as the star host of the show, guiding the audience through major events in 'Coronation Street's history.

Julie Goodyear will return to play iconic character Bet Lynch, while Kevin Kennedy will reprise his role as Curly Watts and Brian Captron is back as serial killer Richard Hillman.

'Coronation Street's longest-serving cast member William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, will also take part in the show alongside Katy Cavanagh, who plays the Street's Julie.

Speaking about the show, Paul O'Grady said: “I’m a great fan of the street! I’ve watched it for most of my life! Chunks of script from 30 years ago are engraved in my memory so to relive it all alongside unforgettable characters and talent on the stage, revisiting such iconic scenes from across the years, is just brilliant. I can’t wait to watch it all come together and the reaction it receives.”

The massive production will feature special visual effects that will recreate some of 'Corrie's most famous storylines.

The 'Coronation Street' musical will also include songs with titles such as 'Woman Stanley Woman', 'Norman Bates With a Briefcase' and 'Sweet Butterfly', a 'Moulin Rouge homage featuring the show's knicker stitcher Sean.

The arena show is based upon the acclaimed album 'Coronation Street: Rogues, Angels, Heroes & Fools', that was released to tie in with the Street's 50th anniversary last year.

'Street of Dreams' debuts at Manchester's M.E.N Arena in March.
