Is Michael skating on thin ice?

Michael Underwood

The brand new series of Dancing On Ice has been hit by controversy before it even reaches our screens.

The other dancers feel that GMTV's Michael Underwood has an unfair advantage as this will be the third time he has trained to take part in the show, reports The Sun.

Michael trained as a reserve for the 2007 series and then last year trained again when he was confirmed to take part in the show. However, he was forced to pull out after breaking his ankle during training so is being given another chance this year.

A Dancing On Ice source told The Sun: "Other stars are furious that while they were learning basics like starting and stopping, Michael was probably practising the headbanger. It's unfair and they told him they think so."

Michael has responded to the claims and said: "Yes, I can see why people say that. In some ways it's an advantage - but breaking your leg isn't. It takes a long time to get over that."

Do you think Michael should be allowed a third chance on the show - or is it unfair to the other skaters? Let us know what you think...

What is the problem ! He broke his ankle last year, the thing is he did not have the same opportunity as the other celebrities to see how far he could go. He was very entertaining and I think he deserves the same chance as everyone else. I will be rooting for him. Go Micheal!!!!!

i think its sad. It's meant to be fun and light entertainment. If the other celebs think its unfair why don't they quit.

Of course he should be allowed to take part. Yes, it could be seen as an unfair advantage but it also shows courage as he is not afraid to take part in what is a potentially dangerous sport even though he sustained a serious and very painful injury last time. I think that it is about time the other contestants grew up and congratulated his guts and determination rather than berate him. How many of the girls taking part already have the grace and movement that comes with being a dancer or a pop singer who dances should this exclude them? For heavens sake this is supposed to be something enjoyable for the public to watch not something that turns into a petty squabble with celebraties behaving like a bunch of children.

I think that Michael Underwood has got an advantage over the other contestants so he should should hold back on training until the others have reached the stage that he is at. Dave.Wargrave
