OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!
To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?
To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?
Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!
Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.
The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.
Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

It's SAD, I think Sir Alan got it wrong for a second time. In fact, Simon was the one I was betting on to win, he's had the most intelligent contributions throughout the series, displaying the most potential of the lot. I think he did a good job managing the team and then the two daft ones, pretty boy and the Ruth wannabe. His mistake was to not resolve the issues in the back room sooner....It would have been better to have an angry potential customer before the work than one after the work has been done. Raef to win!!!!!.....lets face it....who else...it's a POOR crop this year. Sir Alan is screwed regardless of the outcome, better to have given the 6-digit package away to ...hmmmm....me!!!!

Posted by: woodstockalexander on Sun Apr 20 01:34PM | Report abuseReally i just saw it and Sir Allen has made a hudge mistake. Claire should have been fired. She said to simon and i quote "Don't worry about us in the backroom, focus only on the camera" so like a good team leader listening to his link to the backroom he didn't worry, and Clarie's mistakes were taken as Simon's because it was her that didn't have a bloody clue what was going on, even though it was her job to be the message carrier. The other team's products sold themselves and they deserved to win. Sir Allen you've got this one wrong! Plus wouldnt it have been much easier to print the pictures at the desk instead of two serpeate divides doing two jobs.
Posted by: khatab_alsamarae on Sun Apr 20 02:49PM | Report abuseI really think Sir Alan is great, clever etc etc.. & wish he would do some work for the NHS. But firing the noble, honest, hard working ex squaddy is an example that Sir Alan is mortified if he loses a penny!? Sad really not to consider the quality of the workforce. Never mind, this is the new Brtian isn't it... quality doesn't come into it...if you can be devious, backbiting, kill your colleagues type mentality...you'll win.. dog eat dog I am afraid in the money/profit making world. In some ways sqauddy is better than all of them put together..let Sir Alan have lunch with the Prime Minister. Kings are born not made & Simon you're a King my lad.
Posted by: candybingham on Sun Apr 20 05:15PM | Report abuseI definately think Simon should not have been fired! Claire was backstabbing and manipulative and I don't know why Sir Alan kept her in, although her being the project manager this time should be interesting. I wanted Simon to win, but now he's gone I suppose I want Raef to win!
