OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!
To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?
To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?
Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!
Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.
The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.
Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

Quite an acheivement to get so many self- centered people on one show. Simon should not have gone the only normal person surrounded by s****s.
Posted by: plt.brown on Thu Apr 17 01:52PM | Report abuseYes i was very dissapointed that Simon went, i think he had more to offer and Claire and Alex did nothing to help him. Claire has been the worst offender and i think she is pretty useless. She lead the very first week and didn't do much better then. Let's hope she goes soon. As for porr lucinda can we just watch this bullying going on ?!!
Posted by: karentrevithick on Thu Apr 17 01:52PM | Report abusejust goes to show that this is a gameshow now, not a serious search for a top exec. every single one of them is vain, mediocre, and would sell their granny just to be on telly a bit longer and work for that dinosaur alan sugar. so long simon, the only decent bloke in the competition, and the only one to admit failure in the lonely taxi drive back to reality.
Posted by: michael.simpson39 on Thu Apr 17 01:53PM | Report abusehe was the best there - no competition

Posted by: brightmore28 on Thu Apr 17 01:55PM | Report abusethey are all in the wrong place, there talents are more suited for being mp's, and sir alan should fire the lot of them.
Posted by: selocnor on Thu Apr 17 01:56PM | Report abusesimon shouldnt have been fired if i was sir allan sugar i would say claire for she was shit stirring like hell and alex wasnt helping
Posted by: andrea.gasson on Thu Apr 17 01:57PM | Report abuseI think Sir Alan did have a soft spot for Simon, because of his integarity and the fact that he was a very hard grafter. It was a geat shame that the other members of his team did not give the same commitment and outstanding enthusiasm that Simon had pledge to them in previous tasks. Sir Alan is an old Pro and I think as much as he liked Simon he had to look at the big picture, they lost money it's a business programme he had to keep that in mind. I think Alex and Claire just show'd how they shouldn't be the Apprentice last night, my money was on Simon. I think Lee might be a dark horse. Is Lucinda on the wright programme she be better off Presenting Blue Peter.
