OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!
To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?
To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?
Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!
Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.
The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.
Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

Posted by: jjackslad49 on Thu Apr 17 10:38PM | Report abuseClaire is the type of person who is not wanted in any type of business. Yes she may get things done short term but she would not be able to build a team of people as she lacks any integrity and ethics in supporting and coaching her team. Alan's needs a leader not someone who will disrupt and cause employee issues in every conversation she has. Alan please listen she would be a legal nightmare!!!
Posted by: csarsfield on Thu Apr 17 11:09PM | Report abuseLucinda bullying? She`s friggin useless thick upper class twot. Is she actually good at anything? "I dont do technology" Lucinda. Hmmm, does Sir Alan run Amstrad.....a leading technology manufacturer? Her days and brain cells are numbered. She`s actually further under the radar than Lo-hit was but she will be found out.

But anyway, in my opinion he should have fired Claire and Simon. He's done it before and he should have done it again.

Posted by: jahgc on Fri Apr 18 10:15AM | Report abuseSimon's a great bloke and the only genuine contestant, - tried his best and could have succeeded (even if his idea for posing his photo subjects was a little bizarre!) but he had sneaky Alex and sneering Claire undermining him at every turn. His army background made him assume that he would get a team that he could rely on to work closely and loyally with him to achieve the desired success, just as he had supported his teams in previous weeks. Think his naivete let him down in this respect. Claire and Alex should both be sacked and if Sir Alan had listened to Margaret at least Alex would have been booted out. But for some reason the Yahoo poll shows that he's favourite to win! Is it his sulky good looks and not his "business" ability? Or do we champion snakes in the grass these days? "This is not a game..." Yes it is. It's "I'd Do Anything" in designer gear.
Posted by: janeandivanash on Fri Apr 18 12:37PM | Report abuseClaire should have been fired. She is quite clearly a vile, back-stabbing, loud-mouthed waste of Sir Alan's time. Lucinda, who cannot even grasp simple technology, is a shambles. How did she even get this far? As soon as Sir Alan see's her for what she is, hopefully, she will be gone! The only people with any common sense are clearly Raef and Alex, keep quite and stay out of the way of the self-righteous, good for nothing people around them! Lee doesn't even know how to spell accent!
