Snakes On A Task

The Apprentice's Simon Smith

OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!

To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?

To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?

Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!

Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.

The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.

Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

He could not succeed in his task as his "team" were not co-operating with him and were NOT working as a team, they were obstructive particularly Claire, who was as argumentative as she could be whenever he gave her instructions. Quite frankly, who would want to employ someone like her in their business, she's a liar, a snake, obstructive, and would probably do harm to any business she was part of...and I'm a woman making this comment....she gives women in the workplace a real bad name. Sorry to say that quite a number of the females are like that this time around.I'm deeply ashamed of them all and the image they give of British women generally in the workplace. Maybe they should all get back to being wives and mothers and just stay at home like the old days, yeh, bring back the old days please.

I think clair should have gone as she didn't show any respect towards simon during the whole task, while being so argumentive.

Claire should have gone last night. There's no way she should be in it now after she sabotaged the task and made ti fail. I don't think Simon could have gone on to win the whole thing but he should definitely not have gone last night. I cannot wait to see Claire get fired. In fact I can't wait to see most of the girls get fired. But it's been said before - it's not an interview, it's tele!

To be honest I think Claire is a total bitch. She was the same last week really not a team player and so unhelpful. I cannot stand her

What absolutely amazes me as this bunch of misfits is considered to be the cream of our young up and coming leaders of the future......... and even appeared on this show..... what the hell were the rejects like ?? They seem to think that success is based on not working with the others but think being good is about making sure the others look bad even if that makes their own team lose aka claire etc.....

I dont intend to watch any more of the programme. I think Sir Alan has lost his marbles! I wouldn't wish any of the candidates on my worse enemy. I can't imagine any of them being capable of doing a day's work; they are full of their own importance, and not a lot else!!
