Snakes On A Task

The Apprentice's Simon Smith

OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!

To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?

To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?

Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!

Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.

The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.

Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

Everyone thinks that in that position they would have sacked claire I would have but in your heart of hearts even though Simon was so likeable it had to be him he said last week I can be a leader I can win a task and not only did he lose he posted a loss. I hope Alex wins, this week wasn't his best but I got the impression he actually was telling the truth in the boardroom there was never a moment on screen where Claire told them about how badly things were going. Hope Claire goes next

Simon did everything he could trying to manage an impossible team all with huge personality's, everyone had different views on how the task should have been ran. If Claire and Alex just got on with what they where asked rather than been argumentative trying to destroy simons time as been Project Manager maybe they could have made a profit. It turned into a case of simon been bullied by two of his supposed team members. Alex and Claire are both snakes. I hope claire falls flat on her face.

Sir Alan said it all in the boardroom summing up - "If I ask you to build me a wall, you would built me a wall; if I asked you to dig me a trench, you would dig me a trench, but if I trusted you with my investment portfolio, you would be out of your depth." Simon, nice guy that he is, did not have the personality to carry him along as a team leader [too touchy for one thing]. Having a 'soft spot for Simon' doesnt mean that he is destined to become the next apprentice surely.

I think it was a total stitch up job by Alex and Claire on Simon, they belittled any thing he sugested and treated him with no respect at all not even as a courtesy to his role as the team leader. I think Sir Alan should watch the whole of the programe and hear more from Margaret as to what she saw and heard and read of the situation. He should then bring back Simon as team leader next week instead of claire (at the moment they all see him to see what the task is) and to have the teams the same as last week. Then he will see claire and Alex in their true colours and if Simon ( I so hope he gets it right that time ) gets it wrong then fair enough he can be fired but if the feedback form Margaret is negative about Alex and Claire again and it is obvious they have sabotaged him as leader then he should fire the both of them and Simon (for not learning how to handle them from last time)
