OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!
To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?
To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?
Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!
Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.
The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.
Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

Simon should have stayed way longer that waz so unfair that he went, it so should of been that cow Claire or sly Alex.
Posted by: elghazoini on Thu Apr 17 05:52PM | Report abuseNo Simon should not have been fired--Clare should have gone. Also Jenny should go not sure about Alex yet. Hopefully Sir Alan will not let Simon go too far from his empire-- he could do a lot worse--what a nice genuine very hard working guy he is
Posted by: annclaydon on Thu Apr 17 05:56PM | Report abuseThought Simon was a definate to win, but after watching last nights episode it was clear that he was just too nice a guy to be in the cut throat world of business. Good luck simon in all that you do.
Posted by: clareconnery on Thu Apr 17 05:57PM | Report abuseSimon was so up his own a--e it was about time he went,he should have went when he offered to be head chef and made a total mess of it. He obviously thinks he is something he is not. If your going to be full of yourself at least be able to back yourself up with actions.

If Sir Alan cannot bear to look at Claire anymore why is she still there? Because Sir Alan is told who to fire by the BBC for the TV ratings, keeping the controversial people including the bullies to boost the ratings. Im wondering if the winners first salary is actually paid for by Sir Alan or by us the licence payer.Perhaps the proof of this is the fact Sir Alan sent Claire back to the house during his outburst at her, and then said he regretted having to send Simon home. I think Simon will be back with Sir Alan within 12 months of the show finishing, and the winner will be gone within 12 months of the shows end.
Posted by: gtavc7921 on Thu Apr 17 06:05PM | Report abuseOh my fish crackers, I think that Claire should've been kicked out... I seriously do not like her! She's a right moo! I was so excited when Sir Alan said to Claire 'Get out!' Haha! Was laughing bad ways because I thought she was going... but then!! He kept her... ¬¬!! Was Shocking... Didn't want her to stay... Let's see how good Claire is next time then eh? Team Leader next week Hope she goes though... So arguementative and so Judgeable(not a word really =])
Posted by: pingpangyoyo on Thu Apr 17 06:05PM | Report abuseClaire SHOULD of been fired...............Thought Sir Alan Sugar could pick a winner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's not fit to walk my dogs let alone run section of a company...............LOSER SPRINGS to mind.
Posted by: itwarner831 on Thu Apr 17 06:10PM | Report abuseSir Alan was right about Simon not being tough enough for big money, but i think Simon is people's person and he would be great to run a supermarket or something like that. Unfortunatly people like Claire get big money jobs but are they happy in their lives, i would say no, cause they loose all the friends on the way
