OK, now we're confused. Only last week we were saying that it seemed Sir Alan had a soft spot for Simon and that the ex-squaddie could do no wrong - and now just one week later he's been fired!
To make matters worse, Sir Alan fired Simon over Alex and Claire (more about those two in a moment) - what is going on?
To be fair, it was a disastrous task for Simon with his team managing to lose money - their photography business having to turn customers away after a mix-up over order numbers. But just how big a part did Alex and Claire play in his downfall?
Last night saw those two - favourites of ours earlier in the series - show their true colours as total snakes. Alex was shirking responsibility right from the start of the task when Simon wanted to appoint him as deputy. This is despite his own declaration that he is the strongest person in the contest! If Alex really is that talented, he's been hiding it well. It was also interesting to see Alex turn on Claire in the boardroom when he thought his own position was in danger. Sir Alan, please see through the sad eyes and pretty boy looks and fire him!
Like Alex, Claire was obstructive throughout the task and seemed to be enjoying it when everything started to go wrong for Simon. Margaret (who appeared to be in a foul mood last night - go Margaret!) got it spot on when she commented that Claire had treated Simon like dirt. So why would Sir Alan want someone like that working for him? It will be interesting to see how she copes next week as team-leader. The others looked less than thrilled at this news.
The Lucinda bullying continued last night with Helene taking her turn to pick on the softly spoken, beret-wearing one. Is anyone going to step in and defend her? And what's wrong with Raef? He spoke about two words last night. We're heard of keeping your head down in the early stages but this is ridiculous.
Are you as shocked as we are to see Simon out of the contest? How did Alex and Claire manage to escape this time? And with Simon gone, who is your favourite to win now?

As The Project Manager it is your responsiility to your employer if you have lost money. That given- Simon did not stand a chance from the outset of this challenge to succeed. In business you are as strong as your weakest link- that given, if all your links are plotting for their own survival against you, hence effectively attempting to get you dismissed, you are in a no win situation. Simon, as a candidate has been most gracious concerning his demise. Even owners of companies get it wrong sometimes. I suggest, Sir Alan reviews his decision. Why not? In business, you make a mistake, you own up to it. Why not let this be a "Test Case". Simon, should be re-instated . Now there is something for Sir Alan to take onboard, which I am certain he will. Viewing figures will go through the ceiling, if he, Sir Alan, is bold enough to acknowledge this. Regards. Jan Concannon.

Posted by: jessica.wimpenny on Thu Apr 17 01:15PM | Report abuseTrue to form, Simon acted in the best traditions of a soldier and admitted on the post-show everyone who did comment negitively towards him was correct. However, he did step up to the challenge. His biggest mistake was not to walk through (or test his product) how he intended to execute his idea, and most importantly if the paperwork would tally up with the pictures. How many times in my army career did we practice, pracrice, check, check, until we knew it would work. Hard luck Simon, I somehow feel that Sir Allen will not let you go that easy, after all you are a grafter.
Posted by: clifframadhar on Thu Apr 17 01:16PM | Report abuseIt is impossible to detect talent in any of this current lot for anything other than bickering in front of the camera - which takes some balls, I suppose. All 3 should have been sacked last night... and the other team was extremely lucky to get away without a roasting, given their behaviour. It will be hard to maintain interest in this series I'm afraid, and I wonderhow on earth this sorry collection was ever picked. TC
Posted by: dominic.cleary on Thu Apr 17 01:18PM | Report abuseSimon was totally stitched up. Was he a useless leader - maybe, but who could manage Claire short of using duct tape on her mouth? Is it just me or are they all particularly clueless this year - and as for their own claims they are the best sales people in Europe or real winners - give me a break: School leavers with no experience would be making a better fist of things.

Posted by: pat.connolly1 on Thu Apr 17 01:21PM | Report abuseIt's a shame to see Simon go as he seems like a geniune person with real integrity. I hope non of the loud mouthed boorish back stabbers such as Claire, Jenny or Helene win. It would be nice to see someone who is both talented but also has morals and values be successful. Great to watch though!!
Posted by: vechesters on Thu Apr 17 01:23PM | Report abuseI felt sorry for Simon, although he didn't have a good solution for identifying the photos to process, neither did anyone else. None of them seem to be able to grasp the concept of team play. It's like leading a team of your worst enemies. Looking forward to seeing how they deal with Claire.
