Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year but the controversy continues with reports of problems with the voting lines and backstage tears from the unlucky finalists.
Holby City actor Tom Chambers triumphed in Saturday's final despite making mistakes in his final dances - meanwhile, Lisa Snowdon finished in third place in the public vote despite getting two perfect sets of scores from the judges.
Lisa's father told the Telegraph that the presenter was 'fuming' that Tom had made it through to the final after the BBC suspended the phone vote during the semi-final.
He said: "To be honest Lisa was fuming because she felt that she and Rachel should have been in the final outright.
"Something went wrong and it needs to be sorted for next year because some of the voting was bordering on farcical. The whole show was just one big popularity contest."
The paper also claims that many fans were unable to vote for both Rachel and Lisa because the phone lines were constantly busy.
Rachel Stevens has admitted that she was a 'blubbering wreck' after hearing the result and had to quickly leave the studios.
Do you think this year's final was a farce? Did the right person win? Let us know what you think...

When a competition is left open for public voting (which is only done because of the money that is to be made from the phone calls) then the public's decision is final. If people are not happy with this then they should write in, in droves, asking for the competition to be changed to a purely 'judges only' scoring. That way it would be treated just like any other dance competion - professional or otherwise - and the judges decisions would be final instead. But it won't happen will it? There's no money to be made that way and the competitors, the professional dancers, the judges and the presenters are all handsomely paid so they need the money from those people who prepared to phone in multiple times.

Tom was by far the better show dancer and that's what people voted for, otherwise we just get to watch ordinary ballroom dancers like have always been on the original Come Dancing programmes. Strictly is different and if the public voted for Tom then he is the winner and for me the best winner in ages. Lisa's latin dance was not good at all, she walked some of the steps.
Posted by: douglasuk1 on Sun Jan 04 11:03AM | Report abuseI thought the decision was up to the public. If the show is about the best dancer, then it should be left to the judges/or the judges should have the last say on the matter, and since that is not the case, it could have been John Sergent winner of the show. People lighten up there is always a winner and a loser. These shows when they are left for the public to vote, the public vote for the person that have entertained them most

Posted by: rhiannon.castle on Sun Jan 04 09:58PM | Report abuseOf course it is a popularity contest, otherwise it would just be up to the judges! They are all fantastic dancers and Tom won fair and square on the night - his showdance was fantastic. Rachel and Lisa have surprised me with their tantrums. Whatever happened to being sportsmanlike and behaving with dignity in defeat?

Posted by: stephanietromans on Mon Jan 05 04:41PM | Report abuseTom should not even have been in the final. He messed up in the semi finals as well as the finals. After all it was a primarily a "DANCING" not a "PERSONALITY "competition and it was on the latter description that he won. The last few weeks of the show were definitely a complete farce with the ultimate winner being predictable from the the time he was allowed through to the final rounds.
Posted by: jeanjeannee on Mon Jan 05 04:49PM | Report abusetom was going to win the judges made sure of that regardless of the votes

Posted by: lindy_gt on Mon Jan 05 05:12PM | Report abuseFor goodnes sake get a life! It's only an entertainment programme & Tom improved over the whole series & danced better on the night antway - his SHOW dance was terrific & entertained us. The 2 silly girls obviously can't take defeat graciously - that's the trouble with schools today & society in general - no-one has to lose!
