Tom Chambers' victory is Strictly controversial

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year but the controversy continues with reports of problems with the voting lines and backstage tears from the unlucky finalists.

Holby City actor Tom Chambers triumphed in Saturday's final despite making mistakes in his final dances - meanwhile, Lisa Snowdon finished in third place in the public vote despite getting two perfect sets of scores from the judges.

Lisa's father told the Telegraph that the presenter was 'fuming' that Tom had made it through to the final after the BBC suspended the phone vote during the semi-final.

He said: "To be honest Lisa was fuming because she felt that she and Rachel should have been in the final outright.

"Something went wrong and it needs to be sorted for next year because some of the voting was bordering on farcical. The whole show was just one big popularity contest."

The paper also claims that many fans were unable to vote for both Rachel and Lisa because the phone lines were constantly busy.

Rachel Stevens has admitted that she was a 'blubbering wreck' after hearing the result and had to quickly leave the studios.

Do you think this year's final was a farce? Did the right person win? Let us know what you think...

Tom and Camilla's show dance was one of the best ever performed and a worthy winning dance. The way Strictly is run is part performance and then part popularity and Tom was obviously more popular than Lisa. in the end the best performance won. After all is said and done it is only a programme not a matter of life and death and the other contestants need to stop the sour grapes and get a life!! Well done Tom

Agree totally, Tom should never even have beem in the final. At this stage it isn't supposed to be a personality contest, the best dancer has won every other series so this is a real let down. I bet the judges are fuming too.

It doesn't matter how good a dancer you are - as proved by John Seargent's. As long as you have telephone votes the most popular dancer will win - be it Mickey Mouse or The Pope.

Of course, this year's final was farcical and very disappointing to say the least, even though one needs to admit Tom Chambers did pull out a winner in the end. Without a doubt, even though Rachel & Vincent were my choice because of previous performances, their last dance, even with all the lifts etc. didn't wow me at all. Something needs to be done especially about the public vote. THIS IS A DANCING CONTEST. Pat

Tom was far more entertaining but I do think Lisa and Brendon should have been in the final. Rachel and her partner were too serious about winning instead of entertaining. They should have relaxed more and then they might have won.
