Tom Chambers' victory is Strictly controversial

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year but the controversy continues with reports of problems with the voting lines and backstage tears from the unlucky finalists.

Holby City actor Tom Chambers triumphed in Saturday's final despite making mistakes in his final dances - meanwhile, Lisa Snowdon finished in third place in the public vote despite getting two perfect sets of scores from the judges.

Lisa's father told the Telegraph that the presenter was 'fuming' that Tom had made it through to the final after the BBC suspended the phone vote during the semi-final.

He said: "To be honest Lisa was fuming because she felt that she and Rachel should have been in the final outright.

"Something went wrong and it needs to be sorted for next year because some of the voting was bordering on farcical. The whole show was just one big popularity contest."

The paper also claims that many fans were unable to vote for both Rachel and Lisa because the phone lines were constantly busy.

Rachel Stevens has admitted that she was a 'blubbering wreck' after hearing the result and had to quickly leave the studios.

Do you think this year's final was a farce? Did the right person win? Let us know what you think...

im glad tom won, to be honest it may be a dancing show but they are using celebrities and obviously the public will have their favourites, people should stop complaining and start enjoying

I voted for Tom because he was entertainment, and pawing his dancing partner like the other two. It was not a dancing competition! How come the voting money is no longer for children in need!! Get rid of the judges too!

He didn't win fair and square.. he should have never been put through to the final. So what if the tie meant he couldn't be saved in the semi.. thats the point... if he had danced better he would have been up the top with the other girls!! The whole thing is crazy. He wasn't the best dancer. Lisa & Rachel should have been the final 2 and Rachel should have won.

Firstly the BBC shoukld have realised that once they were down to three finalist the one with bottom judges score would inevitably be in the dance off (the only other alternative was that all three would tie). Second, the votes should not have been carried forward. They were the votes for that dance and had no relevance to the next week. Rachel was the most consistent dancer across the series, seriously undermarked in the earkly stages; Lisa was the most improved dancer, with two perfect scores in the final; and Austin the best dancer not to make it to the final. Tom's overall dancing was good but, as reflected in the judges scores, not up to the standard of the three previously mentioned. In the final show dance he relied again on a Fred Astaire impersonation. The dance was good but lacked the content of Vincent and Rachel: a selection of all the latin steps along with spectacular and diffciult lifts. So yes, at the end of the day the wrong person won. It may be an entertainment programme but if this voting system continues eventually the show will die.

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of all the back biting going on over Strictly this year? First off all there was all the cr@p about John Sargeant being 'forced' off. Then everyone was yelling that it's supposed to be an entertainment show and not just about the dancing and now it seems that the same people/newspapers/online 'views' are carping that because Tom won then it's wrong 'cos he didn't score as highly with the judges and therefore it must have been a fix that he won. No-one was yelling the Sargeant getting through all those weeks was a fix. Make your minds up as to which conspiracy theory you want people!! No-one is forcing you to watch or vote so if you are that upset then go away and and let the rest of us just enjoy a light entertainment program

When you watch a couple dancing invariably you are watching the woman, so how can you compare Tom with Rachel or Lisa. If the judges are so good, how can their marks vary so much.
