Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year but the controversy continues with reports of problems with the voting lines and backstage tears from the unlucky finalists.

Holby City actor Tom Chambers triumphed in Saturday's final despite making mistakes in his final dances - meanwhile, Lisa Snowdon finished in third place in the public vote despite getting two perfect sets of scores from the judges.

Lisa's father told the Telegraph that the presenter was 'fuming' that Tom had made it through to the final after the BBC suspended the phone vote during the semi-final.

He said: "To be honest Lisa was fuming because she felt that she and Rachel should have been in the final outright.

"Something went wrong and it needs to be sorted for next year because some of the voting was bordering on farcical. The whole show was just one big popularity contest."

The paper also claims that many fans were unable to vote for both Rachel and Lisa because the phone lines were constantly busy.

Rachel Stevens has admitted that she was a 'blubbering wreck' after hearing the result and had to quickly leave the studios.

Do you think this year's final was a farce? Did the right person win? Let us know what you think...

Maybe the other dancers were better but it is an entertainment program and the viewers are involved in the voting, therefore if you won't a real judgement then take the viewers out of the equation. Viewers will vote for their favorites.

If the idiotic public voting for John Sargeant had not occurred, he would not have resigned and Tom would have been in the final anyway! As it was, Tom's final dance was pure genius and that alone should have given him the title. Shame someone had to lose though, they were all excellent.

I never watch this prog but after the fiasco the week before, i cant believe people STILL phoned in their votes. A waste of a call if you ask me. People knew it was fixed the week before and a lot of calls didnt count or matter, but they still called with their votes.

I was unable to vote for Rachel. I tried many times and eventually got through after about twenty minutes of trying. I think Tom should have been out in the semi-final. I cannot believe anybody voted for him anyway, he's so smug and obviously felt he was better than everyone else!

If the programme makers do not want the public to vote for the winner, they must change the whole format of the programme.
