Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year but the controversy continues with reports of problems with the voting lines and backstage tears from the unlucky finalists.

Holby City actor Tom Chambers triumphed in Saturday's final despite making mistakes in his final dances - meanwhile, Lisa Snowdon finished in third place in the public vote despite getting two perfect sets of scores from the judges.

Lisa's father told the Telegraph that the presenter was 'fuming' that Tom had made it through to the final after the BBC suspended the phone vote during the semi-final.

He said: "To be honest Lisa was fuming because she felt that she and Rachel should have been in the final outright.

"Something went wrong and it needs to be sorted for next year because some of the voting was bordering on farcical. The whole show was just one big popularity contest."

The paper also claims that many fans were unable to vote for both Rachel and Lisa because the phone lines were constantly busy.

Rachel Stevens has admitted that she was a 'blubbering wreck' after hearing the result and had to quickly leave the studios.

    one big popularity contest? Errr, exactly. If it's on dancing alone, leave it to the judges. I think lots of people voted for Camilla, anyway!

    Tom was the outright winner. He was the best dancer from the start and his Show dance was the best. Lisa wasn't a good dancer to start with, got better and she was elegant. Her and Brendan's Show Dance wasnt great - Brendan nearly dropped her. The best person won!

    The viewers put Lisa in the dance off several times and the judges kept keeping her in. As far as the public were concerned she should have gone ages ago.

    Yes its a farce, again the BBC are corrupting results, either because of incompetance or MALICE. Tom should have been out last week. Yes the general public have as liitle sense whe the voted for TOM as they do when voting Labour into power.

    who cares, the public vote for their favorite celeb regardless of who is a better dancer they are all fixed anyway

    It was a fix. Tom should never have been in the final. Viewers voted for personalities not the dance performances. The fial is too important to be left to a vote by viewers, it should be judged solely by the judges. Keith

    They may as well have recalled all the couples who were eliminated over the past few months. That would have been the fairest thing to do if Tom was allowed to continue. Pam Guy, Southampton
