Tom Chambers' victory is Strictly controversial

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year but the controversy continues with reports of problems with the voting lines and backstage tears from the unlucky finalists.

Holby City actor Tom Chambers triumphed in Saturday's final despite making mistakes in his final dances - meanwhile, Lisa Snowdon finished in third place in the public vote despite getting two perfect sets of scores from the judges.

Lisa's father told the Telegraph that the presenter was 'fuming' that Tom had made it through to the final after the BBC suspended the phone vote during the semi-final.

He said: "To be honest Lisa was fuming because she felt that she and Rachel should have been in the final outright.

"Something went wrong and it needs to be sorted for next year because some of the voting was bordering on farcical. The whole show was just one big popularity contest."

The paper also claims that many fans were unable to vote for both Rachel and Lisa because the phone lines were constantly busy.

Rachel Stevens has admitted that she was a 'blubbering wreck' after hearing the result and had to quickly leave the studios.

Do you think this year's final was a farce? Did the right person win? Let us know what you think...

Oh how I love Strictly, but Tom should have gone in the semis, everyone knows it. Total farce, you can't change the rules to keep someone in and try to explain it away with gobblede@#$%. BBC need to get a grip before next series and treat the public with the respect they deserve. Susan Ward.. Lancashire.

The public were asked to vote in order to finance the making of the programme, if there are people on it who do not like what their employers decide then they are free to seek other work.

I really feel that Rachel and Vincet should have won the Strictly come dancing 2008. Rachel was brilliant , confident and fabulous . If not for Rachel i would have been happy to see Lisa winning the title.

Tom won fair and square. His last dance was BRILLIANT! In my opinion, he was excellent from day l and was a worthy winner.

Seriously why does everyone bother. Tom was the most versatile, Lisa couldn't do latin very well and Rachel could only do slow (and boring) dances. The reason why they all got through was because the judges were stupid enough to give Rachel and Lisa the same scores making it impossible for Tom to be saved. Besides the judges are so ageist that they voted off Cherie Lunghi for Lisa while Cherie was so much better. And finally i counted but it took us in total about 100 attempts or more to vote for Tom just 5 times. Tom should have won, (of course its a popularity contest otherwise there wouldn't be a public vote), Lisa and Rachel shouldn't have been in the last three (definitely Cherie and Christine), and i love the show so keep on going and don't listen to sad people who liked boring, soft, slow dances. LOVE YOU STRICTLY AND CAMILLA ESPECIALLY

Yes, the right person did win.. The losers are just that, and poor ones at that.. They are all overpaid celebs anyway, and they should just stop complaining and leave things alone..

I do not think that it is fair for Tom Chambers to have reached the final, let alone win the entire show! Admittedly Tom is a very likeable person, although the show should be primarily about the quality of the dancing, and not as Lisa's father said - a 'popularity contest'. It is almost like if John Sergant were to have won - and imagine the uproar that that would have caused! Tom did his best dance when it mattered (even then it was not faultless), although this cannot compare to the extraordinary improvement from Snowden, the consistency of Stevens, and not forgetting the wonderful Healey!
