Strictly's Tom facing backlash over phone vote fiasco

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Holby City star Tom Chambers is facing an angry backlash from some Strictly Come Dancing viewers who believe he should not be in Saturday night's final.

The actor was given a pass through to the final after the BBC abandoned the phone vote last weekend.

All three couples were allowed through when it became clear that viewers voting for Tom would be unable to save him from the dance-off, due to the tie between Lisa and Rachel at the top of the leaderboard.

Originally votes from last weekend were to be carried over to the final but they now won't be counted and the BBC are offering a refund to anyone who voted.

However, many fans of the series are unhappy that Tom will feature in the final and some are calling for him to do the honorable thing and step down, reports the Daily Mirror.

A show insider told the paper: "Things have turned sour for Tom since Saturday. He and Camilla wanted to get through properly, not be given a free ride. They feel they could have won a dance-off.

"Camilla is really upset and has been crying. She doesn't want anyone to think they have cheated in any way."

Do you think Tom deserves his place in the final? Let us know what you think...

Tom and Camilla should be allowed to continue on saturday night, they have earned there place over the last few weeks, it was not there best choice of there favourite dance, but that should not be the reason for them to go, it was still a very good performance i for one will be voting for them as i have always done.Yours Marion @#$%

Whilst an enjoyable series it is meant to be light entertainment but is turning into a debacle. Dismayed of Oxfordshire

It's not Tom and Camilla's fault they made a mistake with the voting patterns. Tom has been consistently the best dancer throughout the whole series and it is right they should also be in the final. Good luck to all the contestants on Saturday; it is by far the best standard of dancing since the start of Strictly. May the best dancer on the night win.

What is wrong with these people, don't they have anything else to do but moan about trivialities! It's unfortunate that the Beeb didn't think of all eventualities before this became a problem. They've tried to please everyone, but clearly some moaners remain. Leave Tom alone and let the final commence!

I think he should definitely not be in the Final. His performance last Saturday was worse than Austin's in Week One of the competition. Dance Teacher

I dont think he should quit as the situation with the dance off was not of his making. This has probably been blown out of all proportion by people like me who post replies to news articles like this!

Unloved but consistant Mr Hall, Fairly consistant but can be swayed by a good looking bloke Arlene Old fuddy duddy past his best voting inconsistant Tried to be nasty when least expecyed LEN, votes with passion tries at times to balance len's strange vote. What I would like to know is how many votes the public casted and how many each contestant got. T V voting has been found to be a incorrect on a number of occacions so can they be trusted.

I think that it was a stitch up by the BBC as he should of been voted off as the other two dancers were by far better! I also think it was more about viewer numbers as with the X-factor not showing this week, they would have 14m plus for the final show. Mark

Who cares! - seriously, with all that's going on in the world does it really matter?
