Strictly's Tom facing backlash over phone vote fiasco

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Holby City star Tom Chambers is facing an angry backlash from some Strictly Come Dancing viewers who believe he should not be in Saturday night's final.

The actor was given a pass through to the final after the BBC abandoned the phone vote last weekend.

All three couples were allowed through when it became clear that viewers voting for Tom would be unable to save him from the dance-off, due to the tie between Lisa and Rachel at the top of the leaderboard.

Originally votes from last weekend were to be carried over to the final but they now won't be counted and the BBC are offering a refund to anyone who voted.

However, many fans of the series are unhappy that Tom will feature in the final and some are calling for him to do the honorable thing and step down, reports the Daily Mirror.

A show insider told the paper: "Things have turned sour for Tom since Saturday. He and Camilla wanted to get through properly, not be given a free ride. They feel they could have won a dance-off.

"Camilla is really upset and has been crying. She doesn't want anyone to think they have cheated in any way."

Do you think Tom deserves his place in the final? Let us know what you think...

It's not Tom's fault that Strictly Come Dancing producers made a mess of last week's voting. Give the man a chance to show how well he can dance. If he's not good enough he will be the first one to go out on Saturday

The BBC should have left the rules as they were, they bottled it. They are trying to con the public, the Fat Controllers don't have the guts these days to stick to the rules. There always to worried about upsetting the minority.

Surely it is up to BBC to sort this fiasco out not the contestants

Tom deserves his place in the final he has been fab all the way through. I think that 3 couples in the final will be much more exciting and they are all so different that anyone could win. Also I think because John withdrew a few weeks ago does that not mean there would have been 3 couples anyway? The show has been as brilliant as ever and as far as the phone in is concerned a proportion of the money goes to children in need so lighten up everyone.

I have voted for Tom since the outset (as well as Austin - let's not go there!). tom is a really esxciting person to watch dancing. He is started out, not only as a relative unknown (I don't watch Holby), but also as a complete beginner and has shown such verve and vitality on the dance floor. Also I believe he should be in the final because as a male dancer he needs to lead and that is far more technical than being lead! Plus, I have watched Lisa and Rachel over the weeks, and Lisa is still missing her heel leads - particularly in the waltz - I should know - I spent many a dance lesson hour upon hour of just doing heel turns or heel leads! Sometimes Lisa lacks the elegance and gracefulness of Rachel, and the Pizazz of Tom. Yes, she is good-looking and has the most amazing legs and cleavage, but, for me there is someting lacking. And as Tess asks us to vote for our favourite, it has always been Tom (and once upon a time Austin!). The true finalists for me are Rachel and Tom.

The people giving Tom & Camilla a hard time are strictly @#$%y and should get a life. The vast majority of SCD fans are delighted that Tom will feature in the final. Many people would be heartbroken if they pulled out because of these moaning whingers!!! Good luck Tom & Camilla, can't wait for Saturday.

Yes I agree that there should have been a dance off on Saturday. Unfortunately Lisa spoiled the BBCs plans by dancing her socks off. If they had been confident that Tom would have survived a dance off, it would have gone ahead. However this mess is not their fault and they should dance onSaturday.( BBBC) - Bent BBC.
