Strictly's Tom facing backlash over phone vote fiasco

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Holby City star Tom Chambers is facing an angry backlash from some Strictly Come Dancing viewers who believe he should not be in Saturday night's final.

The actor was given a pass through to the final after the BBC abandoned the phone vote last weekend.

All three couples were allowed through when it became clear that viewers voting for Tom would be unable to save him from the dance-off, due to the tie between Lisa and Rachel at the top of the leaderboard.

Originally votes from last weekend were to be carried over to the final but they now won't be counted and the BBC are offering a refund to anyone who voted.

However, many fans of the series are unhappy that Tom will feature in the final and some are calling for him to do the honorable thing and step down, reports the Daily Mirror.

A show insider told the paper: "Things have turned sour for Tom since Saturday. He and Camilla wanted to get through properly, not be given a free ride. They feel they could have won a dance-off.

"Camilla is really upset and has been crying. She doesn't want anyone to think they have cheated in any way."

Do you think Tom deserves his place in the final? Let us know what you think...

Yes, definitely. If he is not good enough he will not win. On the other hand, he may prove the best on the night. If the public are allowed to throw a tantrum everytime there is a change to the show, the programme will lose its credibility. This change was made in the best interests of all. Grow up you sad people, just relax and enjoy a brilliant show. POD, Northants

Yes I think he deserves to go through as he was not given the chance of a dance off and therefore we will never know the outcome. He has been consistent and has been ahead of Rachel and Lisa on average throughout the competition. It is the BBC who made the decision not Tom and Camilla so its very unfair for the Daily Mirror to calvernise the public into thinking that he has in some way influenced this decision. The dance off should have gone through if that was the case. I believe it was a fair outcome and the proof of the pudding will be on Saturaday to see how he is marked. I feel the judges have been biased towards Rachel when in fact Lisa was far the better dancer on Saturday by a long chalk. Pat Willson

He was worse on the night and wouldn't have won the Dance Off. He shouldn't be in the final so should quit. The BBC trying to fix things in this series AGAIN!!

What a lot of palava - aren;t we lucky that we will get to see not two but three show dances? The ultimate winners will deserve their place and trophy. They have all put in so much hard work and effort for charity in taking on Strictly and should be applauded for their efforts not hounded for decisions that had nothing to do with the competitors. Good Luck to them all I say
